Justice Mohsin Akhter Kiyani of IHC heard the case filed by Hijazi seeking quashing of case regarding Chaudhry Sugar Mills record tempering.
During the course of proceeding, the counsel for the accused Syed Ahmed Hassan contended that his client was appointed as chairman SECP on December 17, 2014. However, the matter of record tempering was prior to the appointment of his client, he said.
He argued that the matters of money laundering through Chaudhry Sugar Mills and its investigation were surfaced before the appointment of Mr. Hijazi.
Hassan stated that the two officials who accused his client for pressurizing them for alleged record tempering couldn’t produce evidence in support of their allegations against former Chairman SECP.
The lodging of case against his client was based on dishonesty, he said.
Justice Kiyani asked from the Assistant Attorney General (AAG) why the other people were not nominated in the case for the alleged crime? The court directed AAG to submit reply on this after taking comments from FIA.
The court also summoned FIA officials on next hearing and adjourned the case till February 22.
