Iranian nuclear programme is the most transparent in the world and America has no right to interfere in it, Tanvir Ahmad Khan, Ex-foreign secretary of Pakistan, said while addressing a seminar held here on Thursday.
Senator Professor Khurshid Ahmed and the chairman of Institute of Policy Studies (IPS), Lieutenant General Asad Durrani (Retd), and Dr Nazir Hussain, Asst Professor of Quaid-i-Azam University Islamabad, were among the other participants.
He said the Iran's nuclear programme is the most transparent in the world. "Iran has signed Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) and an additional protocol and so far nothing has been proved to implicate it. He said the Iranian government was very prudent to invest in nuclear energy as its oil and gas reserves are exhausting and non-renewable.
Iran is located in the Caspian Basin which, according to an estimate is enriched with approximately 200 billion barrels of oil and some 236-237 trillion cubic feet of gas. US always showed eagerness to control the oil resources of the Muslim world because oil is itself a 'politics' not just a 'commodity,' so, America find ways to entangle at least one oil rich nation into its web. "America just want to have monopoly on the energy resources of the oil rich states," he added.
He said that US is designing a plan to dominate the world by influencing the military of each nation of the world. US wants to divide the Muslim world not only geographically but also by splitting its faith.
He said US has fully support Israel in the Middle East. So, it cannot tolerate any country except Israel to appear as the greatest power of the region. 'Lieutenant General Asad Durrani (Retd) said US would not open a third front after it has messed in Iraq and Afghanistan. He, however, criticised the security relations of the Gulf States where the internal dissent has allowed the undesirable external intervention in the name of security.
