LAHORE: The Lahore High Court Thursday issued bailable arrest warrants of Punjab Institute of Cardiology drug scam accused, including Deputy Managing Director Nadir Feroze and General Manager Shakeel Nagra of Eferoze Chemical Industry Karachi, after they failed to appear before court despite repeatedly summoned in a plea for cancellation of their bail .

Justice Syed Mazahar Ali Akbar Naqvi passed the orders on a petition filed by the Punjab prosecution department through additional prosecutor general Punjab Abdul Samad for bail cancellation of said accused.

The petitioner through his petition submitted that the inquiry committee constituted to probe PIC scam had held Nadir and Nagra guilty.

He argued that the matter was highly sensitive as more than hundred patients had lost their lives due to negligence of the accused.

He pointed out that a sessions court had granted bail to the accused without appreciating case facts.

He pleaded the court to issue directions for bail cancellation of the accused.
