Talking to a private news channel, Senator Humayun Khan Mandokhel said Dr. Maalik has an understanding of the issues of Balochistan and defended its cause in the Senate for three years.
He expressed the confidence that the new Chief Minister would be able to bring all stakeholders on the negotiating table to resolve law and order problems of the province.
Former Senator Ismail Buledi said Dr. Maalik hails from middle class and hoped that he would work for betterment of the common man.
He said JUI (F) would sit in the opposition in the provincial assembly and would cooperate in good things.
Analyst Syed Anwar Shah said nomination and election of Dr. Maalik is a change for better in a province that has mostly been governed by Nawabs and Sardars.
He said there are great challenges but hoped that Dr. Maalik would be able to overcome them especially when he would also enjoy support of the federal government.
