SC disposes off housing societies case

ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court on Wednesday disposed off a suo motu case about the allegations that the two housing societies had encroached upon 684 acres of land in Takht Parri revenue estate and 732.5 acres in Lohi Bher revenue estate.

A three-judge bench headed by Justice Jawwad S Khawaja resumed hearing of the case but disposed it off due to the lack of interest of affectees and parties of the case.

During the course of proceeding, a person named Muhammed Shafi filed an application in the court about the encroachment of forest department land in Rawalpindi District.

The court while accepting the application of Shafi fixed it for hearing after two weeks.

Meanwhile, the court directed collector Rawalpindi to submit a detailed report regarding the legal status of the land.

The court also directed Rawalpindi police and forest department to assist DCO Rawalpindi regarding the investigation of the matter.
