Wasim Sajjad also requested for granting permission to Raja Pervaiz Ashraf for withdrawal of the letter while presenting un-conditional apology before a three-judge bench headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry.
Ashraf stated in his apology that the motive to write the letter was not to manipulate the court's proceeding but to carry out the proceedings under the law and constitution against him.
He further stated in his apology that his request to constitute the commission in RPPs matter was not to supersede court's proceedings as he always showed respect to the courts.
It is pertenent to mention here that the apex court charged former Prime Minister Raja Pervaiz Ashraf and others in the RPPs case, after which the former PM wrote a letter to the chief justice requesting him to constitute a commission on the issue.
The court took notice of the letter and served a contempt of the court's notice to him terming it to influence the court's proceedings.
