LHC full bench concludes hearing of election matters

LAHORE; The Lahore High Court full bench Thursday concluded hearing of election matters.

LHC Chief Justice Umar Ata Bandial had constituted the full bench comprising Justice Ijaz ul Ahsan, Justice Syed Mansoor Ali Shah and Justice Mazahar Ali Akbar Naqvi which started hearing constitutional petitions on April 10, 2013.

According to details, the full bench decided/disposed of 246 writ petitions whereas 17 writ petitions have been referred to the Chief Justice for adjudication by single benches to be nominated by him because these did not involve any urgency.

The full bench heard the writ petitions emanating from the decisions of Election Tribunals. Some writ petitions involving public interest were also heard and decided. All decisions rendered by the full bench have been uploaded and can be viewed at Election Portal of the LHC website

It may be pointed out six Election Tribunals were constituted each comprising two Judges of the Lahore High Court. Three Tribunals held sittings at the Principal Seat, while one each at its benches at Rawalpindi, Bahawalpur & Multan.
