BAGHDAD: Iraq will lose between 25-30 percent of its wheat harvest this year due to recent floods caused by heavy rains in south of the country, Iraq's Trade Minister said on Tuesday, estimating the loss at more than $200 million.

Iraq produces only a portion of its actual need of wheat. Iraq is one of the world's largest importers of wheat, much of which goes to supply a national food ration programme.
