ISLAMABAD: People staged forceful demonstrations in Sopore town in Indian occupied Kashmir (IoK) against the assault on a Pakistani prisoner in Kot Bhalwal jail, Indian occupied Jammu.

Eyewitnesses told media men that people took to the streets at main chowk and its adjoining areas in the town and staged demonstrations against the attack on Pakistani prisoner, Sanaullah, KMS reported.

They raised high-pitched anti-India and pro-freedom slogans. The witnesses said that Indian police and troops, who were deployed in strength in the town to prevent protests against the incident, resorted to baton charge and teargas shelling to disperse the protesters.
