He was talking to a delegation of Pakistan-India trade delegation who called on him at the Governor House here.
The Governor was of the view that by enhancing trade as well as relations among the countries of the region, people can be steered out of poverty, backwardness and ignorance and improve the lot of those living below poverty line.
He said appreciated that the industrialists and businessmen of Pakistan and India are aware of this and contributing towards improving the bilateral ties.
Dr. Ishrat was of the view that the outcome of the South Asia Strategic Leadership Conference would further contribute in this reagrd. He said though Pakistan at present is facing economic challenges yet the industrialists and traders communities are capable of meeting these challenges.
He noted that mutual contacts between business communities of both sides would serve as a means for fostering peace and solidarity between them. He added that both the countries while making headway towards resolution of their outstanding dispute, would have to promote trade, culture and mutual ties for mutual benefit and confidence building.
