ECP constituted Election Security Committee in each District

ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission Pakistan (ECP) has constituted District/Agency Election Security Committee in each District/Agency under the supervision of the District Returning Officer concerned comprising the following officers of each District/Agency as its members.

According to Notification District Returning Officer would act as Coordinator, Deputy Commissioner/DCO/Political Agent would act as Member, District Police Officer/Commandant in FATA as Member and District Election Commissioner would also act as Member.

The Committee is mandated to look after matters relating to maintenance of law and order in the District/Agency during the conduct of elections.

The District Police Officer will prepare contingency plan for provision of security at the polling stations on the day of poll and place it before the Committee for its perusal and approval before it is implemented, said a press release.

A copy of the contingency plan, after approval by the Committee, shall be sent to the Provincial Election Commissioner, District Election Commissioner and all the Returning Officers in the District/Agency.
