KARACHI: Chief of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam, Pakistan, Maulana Fazl-ur-Rehman said on Thursday that conducting a fair and transparent probe through the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) after the Supreme Court verdict in Asghar Khan Case would prove to be a test for the government.
“Government would earn respect by holding a fair and transparent investigation or it would receive setback if acted otherwise, therefore, it’s going to be a test for the government,” he said while talking at the residence of Aslam Ghauri, secretary information, JUI, Sindh, in Karachi after offering condolence on demise of his mother.
Maulana Fazl-ur-Rehman claimed that revival of Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal (MMA), has saved vote bank of religious forces and now the MMA would emerge as a very powerful alliance in next general election.
“It was MMA that encountered US aggression after 9/11 and now the same religious forces have decided to join hands rising above the petty differences, as the existing situation is worse than earlier one.
He viewed that revival of MMA would help nation get rid of secular rulers.
Stressing the need of unity, JUI chief said US is killing Muslims through drone attacks but the rulers have adopted ‘apologetic’ attitude towards US and its allies. “More surprisingly, the US agents themselves were holding long march and that too in Waziristan instead of New York or London.
Talking about Malala, he said the way issue was taken up exposed the hidden hands behind it. “My party was the first to condemn attack on Malala, but why the world kept mum over the issue of Dr. Afia who is also an innocent girl and implicated in a false case.
Maulana Fazl-ur-Rehman termed the attack on Malala as failure of government and alleged that the incident was being used to launch attack on Waziristan.
