The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) Wednesday strictly barred field formations from unilaterally closing offices due to the coronavirus without taking prior approval of the headquarters. The FBR has issued instructions to the field formations here on Wednesday.

According to the FBR, it has been observed with grave concern that field offices unilaterally decide closure of offices without approval of the board, while dealing with cases of the Covid-19. This action not only causes embarrassment to the board but also leads to interruption to service delivery of the organisation.

Although the FBR places a premium on the safety of its human resource, however, it is important, while taking precautionary steps; simultaneous measures are also taken to ensure uninterrupted provision of service to the taxpayer. Foregoing in view, heads of all field formations of the FBR are directed to ensure close liaison with the Admin Wing, FBR and in future, while dealing with matters related to the Covid-19 pandemic.
