Pakistan is now the 19th most-affected country by the coronavirus with 44,995 cases, while total Covid-19 deaths in Pakistan have reached 969.

According to the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) total confirmed corona cases in Pakistan have reached 44,966, while the corona-related deaths have climbed to 969.

Meanwhile, over 12,489 patients have recovered.

The province-wise break up of the total number of cases as of 4:55pm, on May 19, is as follows: Sindh has the highest with 17,947 cases followed by the Punjab with 15,976 cases, the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (KP) has 6,554 cases, Balochistan 2,820 cases, Islamabad Capital Territory 1,034 cases, Gilgit-Baltistan 550 cases, and Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) 115 cases.

So far, the coronavirus has claimed 969 lives in Pakistan as KP tops on account of Covid-19 deaths with 345 deaths, followed by Sindh with 299 deaths, Punjab 273 deaths, Balochistan 38, Islamabad Capital Territory nine, Gilgit-Baltistan four, and Azad Jammu and Kashmir one Covid-19 death.

The KP has recorded 324 new coronavirus cases, taking the provincial tally to 6,554, according to the health department.

The province's death toll from the virus rose to 345 with 11 more deaths reported, of which seven in Peshawar, two in Abbottabad and one each in Nowshera and Bajaur.

The Punjab has reported 630 new coronavirus cases on Tuesday, taking the provincial tally to 15,976, according to the daily situation report released by the province's Directorate of General Health.

The province has also reported 13 deaths, taking the total fatalities to 273.

According to the report, 4,974 people have recovered from the virus in the province so far, while 174,305 tests have been conducted.

Sindh has reported 706 new coronavirus cases, taking the provincial tally to 17,947, according to Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah.

The province has also reported 19 additional deaths from the virus, taking the total fatalities to 299.

The chief minister said that 135 patients are in critical condition, while 34 are on ventilators.

He added that 131,376 Covid-19 tests have been conducted in Sindh so far.

On the other hand, globally coronavirus cases are rapidly moving upwards as on Tuesday global Covid-19 cases reached over 4.924 million, while global corona death toll also jumped up to 320,807 deaths.

Globally more than 36,084 cases have emerged during past 24 hours with over 842 fresh deaths.

At present most-affected countries include USA with 1.552 million cases with over 92,064 deaths, followed by Russia with 299,941 cases and 2,837 deaths, Spain with 278,188 cases and 27,709 deaths, Brazil 257,396 Covid-19 cases and 16,941 deaths and UK 246,406 corona cases and with 34,796 deaths is at fifth position.
