Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce & Industry (FCCI) will arrange a video link meeting between owners of Private Schools and Federal Educational Minister Shafqat Mehmood in order to resolve their immediate problems, disclosed FCCI president Rana Sikandar Azam.

He was addressing a meeting of FCCI Standing Committee on Private Schools here on Tuesday. Rana Sikandar underlined the importance of education for the coming generations and said we will endanger the future of our next generations through prolonged lockdown due to Corona virus.

He said school owners ready to operate their schools under proper safety measures as government has already allowed other businesses to restart their productive economic activities.

FCCI chief stressed the need that schools should be opened from first June instead of 15 June and said its pros and cons could be trashed out during the meeting with the education Minister.

Rana Sikandar Azam also opposed to defer scheduled examinations and said it will plug out the sense of competition among the most talented position holder students. "It will also have a negative impact on our overall educational system", he told and added that schools have number of divergent alternatives to maintain the social distancing to avoid spread of Covid-19.

"They could easily organize morning and evening classes on alternate days hence, government should seriously look into their viable proposal", he added.

Earlier Sadaqat Husain Lodhi of All Pakistan Private Schools Alliance and Khalid Hayyat Kamoka of All Pakistan Private Schools Association explained in detail the problems confronted by private institutions due to prolonged lockdown. He told that schools have already plummeted more than 20 percent fees but their demands are not being accepted.

They told that percentage of fee recovery during the month of March was 20 to 30 percent, In March it was 10 to 25 percent while it was only 6 to 7 percent during the month of May. The schools running in rented premises have piled up huge amount of rent while they are not getting full fee from their students.

He further told that all private schools have equal tax liabilities whereas luxurious schools must pay more taxes as compare to schools charging nominal fees. They said due to closure of private schools, its attached canteens, and vehicles carrying the students were also distributed.

Rana Sikandar Azam fully supported the genuine demands of school owners and said we have to face Covid-19 as well as spectra of poverty and unemployment. He assured that he will arrange video link meeting with education minister very soon so their problems could be discussed and solved.

Rana Tariq Sarwar, Chaudhry Muhammad Kamal Pasha, Ndeem Sindu, Rana Ikram Ullah and Habib ur Rehman Gill were also present during this meeting.
