Clad in Burqa, Sania visits Ehsaas Emergency Cash payment site
- Sania says she made the visit to assess the arrangements of payments to Category 3 beneficiaries.

(Karachi) Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Poverty Alleviation and Social Safety Dr Sania Nishtar paid visit to Ehsaas Emergency Cash payment site, disguised in Burqa, to assess the arrangements of payments to Category 3 beneficiaries.
In a tweet on Friday, Sania said: "Disguised in Burqa, I visited #EhsaasEmergencyCash payment site at Nurpur Shahan to monitor payments to category-3 beneficiaries that began today."
She added, "It was intended to assess arrangements in terms of quality of services, transparency in payments & adherence to #COVID19 measure."
The special assistant reviewed the arrangements made at the centre and spoke to the deserving women and men present there.
Dr Nishtar also reviewed the precautionary measures being followed at the centre to prevent coronavirus, including disinfecting centres, maintaining social distance and sanitizing hands.
Ehsaas Emergency Cash program was launched by Prime Minister Imran Khan on April 1, 2020 for the poor and deserving families facing economic hardship in wake of the coronavirus crisis.
The financial assistance under the program is meant to help them buy ration so that they don’t go hungry. The program covers 12 million families while a sum of Rs12,000 per family is being provided by the government. The total budget for the programme is Rs144 billion.
Recently, the United States also contributed $5 million to the Ehsaas program to provide extra support to over 70,000 families so they can buy food and items of basic necessity.
