(Karachi) Sindh government spokesperson Murtaza Wahab has said that the inquiry into the unfortunate death of Dr Furqan has been initiated and it will be completed within 24 hours.
Addressing a press briefing in Karachi on Tuesday, Wahab said that the provincial government will take adequate action against those found responsible for his death.
He added it is unfortunate that rifts between the federal and provincial governments regarding the coronavirus outbreak has diverted attention from major issues.
He maintained that the Sindh government had started preparing for a possible outbreak long before the first case emerged in Pakistan.
Murtaza Wahab said that pilgrims returning from Iran and those returning to Pakistan from other countries made up the bulk of reported Covid-19 cases. He said, "I don't want to criticise anyone and how things were mishandled at the Pakistan-Iran border at Taftan."
He added that once it was decided to send the pilgrims back to their provinces, the Sindh government decided it was imperative to quarantine the returnees. "Therefore, we set up quarantine facilities in existing labour colonies across the province."
