Four-year-old boy dies after kite string slits his throat

(Karachi) A four-year-old boy died after his throat was slit by a kite string in Nazimabad No 2, media has reported. The police have arrested Muzammil and his father, Mansoor, over kite-flying and registered a case against them.

The Gulbahar police said the incident occurred when Sufiyan, son of Sikandar, was travelling with his father on a motorcycle. The victim was rushed to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for treatment but he could not survive. The deceased was a resident of Malir.

Sufiyan's father accused the doctor at Abbasi Shaheed Hospital of committing negligence, saying the doctor did not treat his child and waited for the police to come for three hours. However, the hospital MS denied the claim of the victim's family and said that the child was brought dead to the hospital.

The family tried to take his body away with them without medico-legal formalities, but the police attempted to stop them. At this, the family and relatives of the deceased staged a protest against the incident and the police, demanding the arrest of those responsible for the incident.

Meanwhile, taking notice of the incident, Additional IG Karachi Ghulam Nabi Memon suspended and reverted Gulbahar SHO.
