YDA urges people to remain indoors, follow social distancing

• If coronavirus cases surge in the country, the health system will collapse and it will be impossible to cope with the situation: YDA.
• Doctors say religion does not tell followers to expose themselves to diseases.

(Karachi) Female members of Young Doctors' Association (YDA) have urged the people to remain indoors and follow social distancing to contain spread of the coronavirus. They said that doctors are compelled to do government's job as it has failed to ensure precautionary measures in wake of the coronavirus outbreak.

Addressing a press conference at Karachi Press Club on Friday, they said if coronavirus cases surge in the country, the health system will collapse and it will be impossible to cope with the situation.

They highlighted that our religion does not tell followers to expose themselves to diseases.

They mentioned the current COVID-19 situation in the country  is making it difficult for doctors to save pregnant women infected with the novel coronavirus.

The YDA urged governments to ensure that lockdown measures are followed by people.

They said that if the country follows a strict lockdown for a month, the virus spread could be curbed.
