The number of confirmed coronavirus cases in Pakistan has reached 9,216 of which 192 are deaths and 2,066 have recovered, according to data released by the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC).

According to NCOC, 4,195 cases of Covid-19 so far have been detected in Punjab, 2,764 in Sindh, 1,276 in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, 465 in Balochistan, 281 in Gilgit-Baltistan, 185 in Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT), and 50 in Azad Kashmir.

The NCOC said that 2,066 patients had so far recovered, while the death toll from the virus stands at 192 with 16 new deaths reported during the last 24 hours.

Moreover, 796 new cases were reported during the last 24 hours.

The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has supplied fresh personal protection equipment (PPE) stocks to the Government of Sindh to cope with the coronavirus situation.

According to data released here on Tuesday by the NDMA, the authority has supplied 345,100 surgical masks and 9,627 N-95 masks for the health professionals dealing with Covid-19 patients in various hospitals of Sindh.

Moreover, the authority has dispatched 69,299 protective suits and 15,777 gowns for the health workers of the Sindh province, 49,287 surgical caps, 31,614 gloves, and 4,038 protective glasses.

The authority also dispatched 37,674 protective shoe covers along with 1,521 face shields.

Moreover, the authority also sent body bags, bio hazard suits, and safety boxes.

The equipments also included hand sanitizers, methanol, and hand wash materials.

The NDMA said the PPEs to Gilgit-Baltistan, Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Balochistan had already been sent, while PPEs for the health department of Punjab was also being sent.

The NDMA and other authorities have speed up the supply of PPEs following Young Doctors Association (YDA) protest in Balochistan and Punjab.

The YDA has said that non-availability of protective gear not only puts them in mental stress but also their lives at risk.
