(Karachi) Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Mahmood Khan has said that the government is committed to take strict action against those involved in hoarding and smuggling of essential commodities during the coronavirus outbreak.

Addressing a media briefing in Peshawar on Monday he said, "We will take strict action against hoarders and profiteers." He added, "The government has introduced an ordinance in this regard."

Mahmood Khan said the provincial government is making efforts to increase coronavirus testing to 5,000 tests per day.

"We are trying to increase our testing capacity with the help of the private sector," he mentioned. The CM appealed the citizens to follow social distancing and precautions to curb the spread of the virus.

He maintained that Ehsaas programme is the country's biggest scheme that aims to facilitate the poor people.

Mahmood Khan said the government appreciates the services of doctors, paramedics, police and law enforcement personnel who are fighting the pandemic with dedication.
