  • Prime Minister Imran Khan directed the relevant authorities in the response to a number of requests made by expatriates on the Prime Minister’s Portal.
  • The Islamabad Traffic Police will not fine drivers holding valid foreign driving licences.

In order to facilitate foreigners and overseas Pakistanis, it has been decided to accept driving licenses issued by other countries.

The development would allow foreigners to drive in the country without any hassle, this comes after Prime Minister Imran Khan directed the relevant authorities in the response to a number of requests made by expatriates on the Prime Minister’s Portal.

As per details, the foreign driving licenses in the city of Islamabad can be saved from fines. The Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) has issued an order, asking all staff, including deputy superintendents of traffic police, to accept driving licences issued by other countries.

The order further stated that the ITP staff should not fine drivers holding valid foreign driving licences.

It was for the first time that foreign driving licenses were being accepted in Pakistan said Superintendent of Police (SP) ITP Khalid Rasheed. The officer added that licenses issued by the ITP were also accepted in some countries.
