ISLAMABAD: Former AJK Prime Minister Barrister Sultan Mehmood Chaudhary Tuesday said that Pakistan wanted to work with the international community but it could not ignore presence of Indian troops on eastern border.

"Pakistan has ample right to defend its territory and how it could help NATO and the US on Western borders in presence of more than 700,000 Indian troops on the eastern border which were posing a serious threat to its sovereignty," he made these remarks during a detailed meeting with Spokesman of German ruling party's defence committee and member German Parliament, Ernst-Reinhard Beck in Berlin, Germany.

Advisor for Defence of German Government, Anreaus Henny was also present while former Member Kashmir Council, Hameed Pothi and Muhammad Rafi assisted Barrister Sultan Mehmood, says a message received here on Tuesday.

Barrister Sultan Mehmood said that if NATO, the US and Europe wanted improvement in Afghan situation and Pakistan's open support, then there must be a positive progress in Kashmir issue.

He opined that Pak-India relations could improve if Kashmir issue was resolved in accordance with the resolutions of United Nations Security Councils and wishes of Kashmiris.

Similarly, Pakistan could play a better role for resolution of Afghanistan issue, he added.

Barrister Sultan Mehmood made it clear that there was no military solution to Afghanistan issue, rather a lasting peace could be ensured by initiating talks process with Afghan people.

He apprehended that NATO and the US could not withdraw their forces from Afghanistan in the next year and the Afghan government could not control the situation.

He said that Taliban were still controlling a large portion of Afghanistan therefore, they should be included in talks for permanent peace in Afghanistan.

Ernst-Reinhard Beck assured Barrister Sultan Mehmood that he would present Kashmir issue before Defence Committee and German Government besides forwarding his proposal to German government.
