Coming down hard on the government, Emir Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Siraj-ul-Haq asked the Prime Minister Imran Khan on Wednesday to resign after his alleged failure on all fronts.

Addressing the participants of a protest rally in Rawalpindi, Haq said that his party has launched countrywide movement against skyrocketing inflation and unemployment from Rawalpindi. He said that on January 25, 2020 JI will mobilize masses across the country against the ever increasing prices, unemployment and failure of the government on other fronts.

JI Emir Senator Haq led the protest rally and warned the government to bring down the inflation or get ready to be sent packing. He said the Prime Minister claimed to turn Pakistan into a Medina-like-State over the past 17 months has proved a joke and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government also proved itself the agent of the status quo.

"We want the government to reduce the prices of basic commodities or get ready to go home," said Siraj while addressing a charged crowed of a large number of people from all walks of life. He added the protest demonstrations will be held in every city under the banner of the JI.

He said that it seems the only objective of PTI government is to suck the blood of the poor masses. He said those who created the shortage of flour and increased the price of sugar are all sitting in power corridors. "So how can the Prime Minister take action against his own colleagues?" he questioned. He lamented that people are not getting flour in a country which is the eighth largest producer of wheat in the world.

He said that the country's flour mills are producing 6.5 million tons of refined sugar per year while Pakistan's total sugar demand is around 5.5 million tons, under such a situation when country is producing one million tons of additional sugar, the commodity crisis is not understandable.

Quoting the statements of Dr Ishrat Hussain and Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) Chairman Shabbar Zaidi about bad governance and tax issues, he said the PTI government has even failed to introduce reforms in a single sector during the past 17 months of its rule.

Warning the rulers against growing public anger, Siraj said the masses are now running out of patience and not ready to bear this government anymore. He said rulers must set their direction as soon as possible or they would never find a place to hide if the people take to the streets against them.

JI deputy chief Mian Aslam and JI Emir Northern Punjab chapter Dr Salim also addressed the gathering. They said that from the start of PTI government to date, the party has done nothing but only taken u-turns on every promise made before the elections with masses.

The JI leaders stated if the masses do not stand up against the anti-people policies of the government, they should be ready to face further price hike and unemployment as over the period Imran Khan-led government has done nothing for the people.
