Prices of essential kitchen items have witnessed an increasing trend during this week past against the preceding week, a survey conducted by Business Recorder revealed here on Saturday.

The survey observed that during the week prices of egg, wheat flour, refined sugar, pulses, liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), and some of the vegetables have witnessed an increase, while prices of some of the vegetables including onions, tomatoes and potatoes went down.

Egg price reached all time high level from Rs 130 per dozen in wholesales market to Rs 135 per dozen which in retail market were being sold at Rs 145-150 per dozen, while live chicken price remained stable at Rs 5,500 per 40 kg which in retail market was being sold at Rs 160 per kg and chicken meat was being sold at Rs 280 per kg.

Wheat flour price went up from Rs 750 per 15 kg bag to Rs 760 per 15 kg bag, prices of all the major pulses witnessed a fresh increase as price of fine quality white lentil (Maash) has gone up Rs 230 per kg to Rs 240 per kg, while normal quality lentil price crossed Rs 200 per kg mark, fine quality grams pulse price reached Rs 200 per kg against Rs 190 per kg and normal quality grams price went up to Rs 180 per kg against Rs 170 per kg, kidney bean (Lobia) price increased from 170 per kg to Rs 200 per kg, green gram (Moong) price remained stable at Rs 200 per kg and red lentil (Masoor) price reached Rs 180 per kg.

Potatoes have jumped up from Rs 200 per 5 kg to Rs 220 per 5 kg which in retail market were being sold at Rs 55-60 per kg against Rs 50 per kg, onions price reduced from Rs 400 per 5 kg to Rs 300 per 5 kg which in retail market were being sold at Rs 60-70 per kg against Rs 90-100 per kg, tomatoes price went down from Rs 550 per 5 kg to Rs 500 per 5 kg which in retail market were being sold at Rs 130 per kg against Rs 140 per kg.

During the period, garlic price went up from Rs 1,000 per 5 kg to Rs 1,100 per 5 kg which in retail market was being sold at Rs 320 per kg against Rs 300 per kg and ginger price went up from Rs 1,100 per 5 kg to Rs 1,300 per 5 kg, which in retail market was being sold at Rs 350-400 per kg.

No changes were witnessed is ghee/cooking oil prices as normal quality ghee/cooking oil was available at Rs 175 per kg pack, while best quality ghee/cooking oil at Rs 230 per litre. Sugar price went up from Rs 3,530 per 50 kg bag to Rs 3,550 per 50 kg bag, which in retail market was being sold at Rs 73 per kg against Rs 72 per kg and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) prices increased from Rs 180 per kg to Rs 200 per kg.

Capsicum price went up from Rs 600 per 5 kg to Rs 750 per 5 kg which in retail market was being sold at Rs 180 per kg against Rs 150 against; yam (arvi) price went up from Rs 550 per 5 kg to Rs 600 per 5 kg which in retail market was being sold at Rs 140 per kg against Rs 120-130 per kg; and carrot price went up from Rs 150 per 5 kg to Rs 175 per 5 kg which in retail market was being sold at Rs 45 per kg against Rs 40 per kg, radish price went down from Rs 170 per 5 kg to Rs 120 per 5 kg which in retail market was being sold at Rs 30 per kg against Rs 45 per kg, and peas price went down from Rs 850 per 5 kg to Rs 650 per 5 kg in wholesales market which in retail market were being sold at Rs 150 per kg against Rs 180 per kg.

Tinda price went up from Rs 300 per 5 kg to Rs 530 per 5 kg which in retail market was being sold at Rs 80 per kg against Rs 70 per kg, okra price went up from Rs 800 per 5 kg to Rs 1,000 per 5 kg which in retail market was being sold at Rs 230 per kg against Rs 175 per kg, ridge gourd price went up from Rs 500 per 5 kg to Rs 550 per 5 kg which in retail market was being sold at Rs 140 per kg against Rs 130 per kg, cauliflower price went up from Rs 275 per 5 kg to Rs 350 per 5 kg which in retail market was being sold at Rs 85 per kg against Rs 75 per kg, cabbage price went up from Rs 200 per 5 kg to Rs 250 per 5 kg which in retail market was being sold at Rs 65 per kg against Rs 50-55 per kg and beans price went up from Rs 475 per 5 kg to Rs 550 per 5 kg which in retail market were being sold at Rs 140 per kg against Rs 110 per kg.

Fruit prices also witnessed a mixed trend as white apple price remained stable at Rs 110 per kg, Ambri apple price went down from 120 per kg to Rs 110 per kg, Pakistan Kala Kolo apple price went down from Rs 150 per kg to Rs 130 per kg, Iranian Kala Kolo apple price went down from Rs 155 per kg to Rs 140 per kg and golden apple price went up from Rs 130 per kg to Rs 140 per kg. Good quality banana price went down from Rs 100 per dozen to Rs 80 per dozen, normal quality banana from Rs 60-70 per dozen to Rs 55-65 per dozen, good quality guava price reduced from Rs 100 per kg to Rs 80 per kg and its normal quality was available in the range of Rs 60-65 per kg against Rs 70-75 per kg.
