Pakistan is establishing a pavilion in Dubai Expo at the cost of $20 million that would showcase the local products for the next twenty years, said Governor Sindh Imran Ismail here on Wednesday.

Speaking at SITE Association of Industry, the Governor Sindh said that Prime Minister Imran Khan wants to facilitate the industry, which is backbone of Pakistan's economy. He said that positive developments have started to come out on economic front and referred to international institutions' reports, which have indicated the country has improved in "ease of doing business" side.

He spoke about the government's measures to enhance the exports and said that efforts are afoot to bring in marked improvement in this sector.

Talking about the role of Karachi in export sector, Ismail said that it has a key role to enhance exports but industry of Karachi is deprived of required facilities.

He expressed his inability to resolve the issues like water and infrastructure and water as these rests with provincial government and assured to talk with Sindh Government in their resolution.

The governor also identified multiple authorities in the city as a stumbling block to resolve the issues confronting the industry. "Mayor Karachi also complains being powerless and his complaints are genuine," Imran said.

The governor assured that he would talk to Sindh Government as well and arrange a meeting of businessmen with the Prime Minister when he visits Karachi for resolution of their problems.

He also promised to arrange a meeting with Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) officials with the industry to overcome the gas shortage in the industrial areas.

The governor declared that no compromise would be made on corruption when industrialists complained about the people, demanding monetary benefits in the garb of PTI officials.

"I would get the people of PTI expelled from PTI even if he was MPA," the governor claimed.

Earlier, Siraj Qasim Teli, Former President Karachi Chamber of Commerce & Industry, Muhammad Suleman Chawla, President SITE Association and others also spoke on the occasion.
