Accountability court issues release orders for Maryam Nawaz

• Maryam was granted bail by the Lahore High Court on November 4.
• The court had ordered her to submit two surety bonds worth Rs10 million.

An accountability court in Lahore issued on Wednesday the release orders for Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz (PML-N) Vice-President Maryam Nawaz in the Chaudhry Sugar Mills (CSM) case after confirming her surety bonds.

The release order was issued by accountability court Judge Amjad Nazir Chaudhry to the Kot Lakhpat jail superintendent, local media reported. The surety bonds were submitted by guarantors Saiful Malook Khokhar and Faisal Ayub.

After the orders were issued, judicial staff left for the jail. As soon as the legal proceedings are completed, the release order will be sent to Services Hospital, where Maryam is currently held.

On November 4, the Lahore High Court (LHC) granted bail to Maryam in the CSM case in which she was arrested on August 8. A two-member bench of the high court, comprising Justice Ali Baqar Najafi and Justice Sardar Ahmad Naeem announced the verdict. The bench had ordered the PML-N leader to two surety bonds, each worth Rs10 million. She was also directed to deposit an additional Rs70m and surrender her passport to secure her release.
