'Nawaz Sharif critically unwell, is fighting battle for his health, life': Dr Adnan Khan

• The doctor said that his patient's deteriorating kidney functions is further complicating low platelet count and heart attack.
• On Monday, Sharif’s platelet count recorded a minor increase and reached 28,000.

The personal physician of former prime minister Nawaz Sharif has said that his patient is 'critically unwell and is fighting the battle for his health and life'.

On Tuesday, Dr Adnan Khan took to his personal Twitter handle and wrote that his patient's deteriorating kidney functions is further complicating the low platelet count and heart attack. "Poor blood sugar and blood pressure control is taking its toll," the doctor tweeted.

In another tweet the doctor further said that pending scans/biopsies, diagnostic dilemma still ensues from multiple complex pathologies and co-morbidities. "In a paradoxical catch 22 situation; establishing a definitive diagnosis and subsequent management poses considerable risk to Nawaz Sharif’s fragile and unstable health," he added.

Sharif, has been admitted to Lahore Services Hospital since last week. On Monday, Sharif’s platelet count recorded a minor increase and reached 28,000 which is some 122,000 less than the minimum normal level.

Meanwhile, the Islamabad High Court (IHC) will resume hearing of the petition seeking suspension of sentence handed down to Sharif in Al-Azizia reference. Today, the interim bail granted to the former PM expires. The former PM has already been granted bail by the Lahore High Court in the Chaudhry Sugar Mills case.
