President urges Japanese PM to play role in ending human rights violations in IoK

• The president briefed Japanese PM on the worsening situation in Indian occupied Kashmir.
• President Alvi is on a four-day visit to Japan.

President Dr Arif Alvi has urged Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe to play role for restoration of fundamental human rights of Kashmiri people in Indian-occupied Kashmir (IoK).

The president met the Japanese PM in Tokyo and felicitated the Japanese PM on the enthronement of the Emperor of Japan. Alvi stressed on the need for both countries to work together closely to enhance mutually beneficial relations. He said both countries should enhance relations in the fields of investment, trade, human resource development and people to people contacts.

The president also expressed his heartfelt condolences on the loss of precious lives caused by the recent Typhoon Hagibis in Japan and wished early recovery of the injured, local media reported. The president briefed Abe about the worsening situation in IoK after Indian government repealed the special status given to IoK. President Alvi urged the Japanese PM to play role for restoration of human rights in the valley.
