Slight changes were seen on the money market on Tuesday in the process of trading activity, marketmen said.

INTER-BANK MARKET RATES: The rupee fluctuated modestly in terms of the dollar for buying and selling at Rs 155.85 and Rs 155.90 respectively, they said.

OPEN MARKET RATES: The rupee gained 20 paisas against the dollar for buying and selling at Rs 155.70 and Rs 156.20 respectively, dealer said.

The rupee was trading versus the euro for buying n selling at Rs 173.00 and 175.00 respectively.

In the second Asian market, Hopes the United States and China were making progress to resolve their trade dispute supported the dollar and trade-exposed Asian currencies on Tuesday, while the Canadian dollar rose as the ruling Liberal Party looked to have won a national election.

The volatile pound inched 0.2% higher but stayed a touch below a 5-1/2-month high at $1.2980, with the Brexit project in disarray but traders looking to another crucial parliamentary vote on Tuesday to determine the next step.

The dollar was available versus the Indian rupee at Rs 70.955, the greenback was at 4.183 in terms of the Malaysian ringgit and the US currency was trading at 7.076 against the Chinese yuan.

RUPEE IN LAHORE: The Pak rupee maintained upward trend for the second consecutive day against the American dollar in the local currency market on Tuesday.

Amid lack of buyers' interest in the market for another day, the dollar further decreased its worth from the overnight closing rate of Rs 155.80 and Rs 156.20 to Rs 155.70 and Rs 156.00 respectively, local currency dealers said.

Likewise, the rupee showed strength as it recovered its earlier losses versus the pound sterling. The pound's buying and selling rates slid from the Monday's closing of Rs 201.30 and Rs 202.00 to Rs 200.00 and Rs 201.40 respectively, they added.

RUPEE IN ISLAMABAD AND RAWALPINDI: The dollar gained 5paisa against the dollar at the open currency markets of Islamabad and Rawalpindi here on Tuesday.

The dollar opened at Rs 156.25(buying) and Rs 156.30(selling) against last rate of Rs 156.20(buying) and Rs 156.25(selling).

It closed at Rs 156.25(buying) and Rs 156.30(selling).

The buying and selling rates of one tola of gold were Rs. 87,100 (selling) and Rs 87,000 (buying) in the local Sarafa (gold) markets of Islamabad and Rawalpindi.
