Maleeha Lodhi apprises UNGA president about Kashmiris suffering in IoK

Pakistan’s ambassador to the United Nations (UN) Maleeha Lodhi met United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) President Maria Fernanda Espinosa and apprised her about the grave situation in occupied Kashmir after India stripped off its autonomy.

In a tweet on Tuesday, Lodhi said that she briefed the UNGA president in detail about the the situation in Indian occupied Kashmir (IoK) where the continuing curfew and lock down 'is exacerbating the suffering of the Kashmiri people'.

"UN should live up to its obligations on IOK," the ambassador further wrote on Twitter.

Earlier in August, Pakistan's permanent ambassador to UN had also met UN Security Council (SC) President Joanna Wronecka to apprise her of India's illegal action in IoK and also its violations of the laws the SC.

Lock down in Kashmir has entered its fourth week in which thousands of Indian security forces continue to keep a lid on protests in IoK. Internet, communications services and TV channels are closed in the region.
