PM extends Army chief General Bajwa's tenure for 3 more years

Prime Minister Imran Khan has approved an extension in the tenure of Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa for another three years.

According to a notification issued by the prime minister's office, "General Qamar Javed Bajwa is appointed Chief of Army Staff for another term of three years from the date of completion of current tenure." The notification also reads that the decision to extend the COAS's tenure has been taken in view of the regional security environment.

General Bajwa as appointed COAS in 2016 by former prime minister Nawaz Sharif.
