Back in February, Samsung made history by revealing its foldable Galaxy Fold. However, the phone started breaking a day or two after its launch to reviewers, which made Samsung delay its device. Now finally Samsung has announced when the phone will come.

After much wait, tech giant Samsung announced that it would finally launch its $2,000 Galaxy Fold device in September this year, that too with some redesigns. The phone would, however, be released in ‘select markets’ only for now.

“We’ve made improvements to Galaxy Fold to ensure consumers have the best possible experience. Samsung has taken the time to fully evaluate the product design, make necessary improvements and run rigorous tests to validate the changes we made,” wrote Samsung.

Samsung delays Galaxy Fold launch following reports of broken screens

The changes it is referring to include an extension of the top protective layer beyond the bezel, which makes it clear that it’s a part of display and not meant to be removed. Also, it added more reinforcements for better device protection from the external particles, while also preserving its signature foldable experience.

Moreover, Samsung said that the top and bottom of the hinge area has also been made stronger with new protection caps. Extra metal layer have been added under the display to protect it, and also the space between the hinge and device’s body has been lessened.

The company informed that they have also improved the overall Galaxy Fold user experience in various ways, and for now, it is carrying out final product tests to make the device available by September. Samsung said that further details will be revealed as they get closer to the launch.

“All of us at Samsung appreciate the support and patience we’ve received from Galaxy fans all over the world. Galaxy Fold is a device long in the making, and we’re proud to share it with the world and look forward to bringing it to consumers,” Samsung wrote in its blog post.
