NAB gets physical remand of Shahid Khaqan Abbasi till August 1
An accountability court granted on Friday the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) 13-day physical remand of former prime minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi.
Abbasi was presented before the court by a NAB team. During the hearing today, NAB team requested accountability court Judge Mohammad Bashir for 14-day physical remand, local media reported. The court accepted the bureau's request and granted it physical remand of Abbasi till August 1.
On Thursday, a NAB team had arrested the former premier in the liquefied natural gas LNG contract case. The team intercepted the PML-N leader at the Thokar Niaz Baig interchange. A medical check-up of Abbasi was also conducted at NAB Lahore office before he was taken to NAB Rawalpindi.
The bureau has accused the PML-N leader and others of misusing his authority and illegally awarding LNG terminal contract for a period of 15 years to a company of their liking.
