Javed Iqbal says he’ll resign as chairman if NAB’s ‘political engineering’ proved
The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Chairman Javed Iqbal vowed on Thursday that if anyone proves that the bureau is doing 'political engineering' he will step down from his post.
Speaking to the media, the NAB chairman said he would resign if anyone proves that any member of the bureau, himself included, had met with any Senate member, Provincial Assembly member or National Assembly. He added that he was saying this because everyday news comes up that the bureau is doing 'political engineering', when he himself had just come across the meaning of it.
"NAB has no link to politics," the chairman reiterated. The accountability watchdog chairman said that NAB only focuses on anti-corruption. He also maintained that NAB always keep the dignity and respect of everyone, women included. He further said that all the inquiries on the going cases were all with proves.
"With time, all the proves will be presented before courts," Iqbal further said. He added that people blaming NAB for political victimisation should focus on defending themselves before the court.
