Former president Asif Ali Zardari was arrested on Monday in the Park Lane case by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB).

His arrest comes days after he withdrew his interim bail applications in the Islamabad High Court (IHC). On June 26, the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) co-chairperson had requested the high court to allow him to withdraw his petitions in the Park Lane and luxury vehicles cases.

The IHC had then dismissed Zardari's bail pleas. This is the second case in which the PPP leader has been arrested by the bureau. On June 10, NAB had arrested Zardari in the money laundering through fake accounts case. The former president is currently in NAB's physical remand.

The bureau is expected to present Zardari before an accountability court and request for the physical remand of the former president in the Park Lane case, local media reported.
