KARACHI:  Usman Institute of Technology (UIT) affiliated with NED University of Engineering and Technology, Karachi, partnered with the Pakistan Science Club (PSC) to hold the National Science and Innovation Fair 2019 (NSIF19) which included the concurrent events of IEEE YESIST12 and IEEE SPECTRUM’19 which were held at the UIT Karachi campus.

The chief guest of the event was Professor Dr. Manzoor Hussain Soomro, President ECO Science. The guest of honour was Prof. Dr. Bhawani Shankar Chowdary, Professor Emeritus and Distinguished National Professor along with other esteemed guests and students.

The National Science and Innovation Fair 2019 is an excellent opportunity for students to share their ideas on a larger platform under the umbrella of Pakistan Science Club, it will not only contribute towards the social development of the participants but will also help them in developing their analytical skills and explore the possibility using scientific principles for the betterment of society.  Prior to this the participants were requested to submit their idea abstract within the provided time frame and compete on national and international level.

Pakistan Science Club created exciting challenges for students aged between 12-20 years and encouraged them to participate and showcase their novel ideas and projects at NSIF19 which began with the ‘Innovation Challenge’, followed by a ‘Maker Fair’ a ‘Junior Einstein’ competition and concluded with technical presentations at ‘IEEE Spectrum’. Participants from all over the country were invited to present their research on various fields of science and technology. Three grand prize winners will get a chance to participate in Asia's biggest international Science Contest CASTIC with more than 60 countries participating from all over the world. One special prize winner will participate in IEEE YESIST 12, Junior Einstein competition at Stamford International University, Thailand. The winner of the people’s choice award will also be presented at the NSIF19.

Zahir Ali Syed, Director UIT stated that - “Our goals at UIT are aligned with PSC which actively searches for science talent all over Pakistan by organising different science activities i.e. summer science camps, science fairs and competition. Both the organisations are working to identify and nurture future scientists, technologists and IT talent at schools, colleges or university levels. PSC also provides opportunities and facilities for talented science students to utilise their skills for innovation and support their scientific interest.”
