ISLAMABAD: As Ramazan draws to an end, stalls selling Cone Mehndi and bengals are doing roaring business these days, as these two items are most popular with girls shopping, who throng to these stalls like bees to a hive all across the country to celebrate Islamic festival of Eidul Fitr.
As Eid draws near, the stalls of beautifully designed colorful bangles and Mehndi in various markets of the country including federal capital have been set up which are attracting female customers in great numbers.
According to stall holders, bangles and Mehndi attract women, irrespective of their age, and its true to say “Its Eid, if women are wearing colourful and matching bangles and have Mehndi designs on their hands”.
The delightful moments of buying bangles, Mehndi , gifts, shoes and other accessories add special flavor to Eid happiness, said a female customer Asma Ayub.
Young and old are busy in making last minute preparations for Eid.
Especially young girls are eagerly buying bangles and Mehndi to celebrate ‘Eid in a traditional way, said a shopkeeper Hassan Shoaib. A 19 years old Sana Safdar said Eid celebrations were incomplete without bangles and Mehndi.
A beautician Kanwal Seemab said Mehndi is considered to be the art for temporary decoration of hands and feet. Mehndi adds attractiveness to a girl’s hands and makes them look more gorgeous.
Every age of women love to apply beautiful designs of Mehndi on their hands and feet especially on the eve of Eidul Fitr.
Females who are always want to look beautiful and conscious about their looks throng these stalls set up at homes, markets and beauty salons, she adds.
A lot of female like to get henna done during Eid as it makes them feel fresh, new and beautiful, said Afshan Azeem.
Many families even have a henna night celebration, where all the women of the family and friends gather together at one place, Aliya Musaqad a henna expert said, adding, we also offer home service henna for such occasions.
Various book shops in different areas of the cities also start selling Mehndi design books before Eid as they are in great demand among girls who want to master the art of henna (Mehndi) application, said a shopkeeper.
