Fawad Chaudhry sets eyes on replacing debit, credit cards with mobile payments
After the successful launch of Pakistan's Hijri Calendar, Minister for Science and Technology Fawad Chaudhry has now announced that they will working on replacing debit cards in the country with a mobile phone payment system.
Taking to his official Twitter handle, the science and technology minister said that his next challenge is to replace debit and credit cards with mobile payments. The minister further said that for advancements in technology, the payment methods must be made easier.
"Insha Allah in a few months all your payments, from your bus ticket to purchasing a new car, will be done through mobile," Chaudhry added.

On Sunday, Chaudhry launched the country’s first moonsighting website and Hijri Calendar. The minister announced that based on the lunar observations, Eid-ul-Fitr will be celebrated on June 5. The minister also announced that Eid-ul-Azha will be celebrated on August 12.
