The Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Asif Saeed Khosa said on Thursday that due to the attitude of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB), people are under mental pressure.

A three-member bench headed by the CJP was hearing the bureau's plea against the acquittal of a suspect named Attaullah. During the hearing, the CJP asked whether the bureau's purpose is just to register cases. He lamented that the bureau's only purpose is not to just make cases but to also attach evidence for those who it has made cases against.

He continued that the bureau should also prove the case and ensure punishment as well. The chief justice further said that due to NAB's attitude, people were under mental pressure, local media reported.

The bench rejected NAB’s appeal against Attaullah who was being investigated for alleged corruption as a cashier of the National Bank. Attaullah had been acquitted by the high court four years ago. The CJP said that there was not enough evidence to prove corruption against the suspect and contended that Attaullah has been wrangled for the last 19 years.
