KWGA chief calls for efficient tax system

KARACHI: Karachi Wholesale Grocers Association’s (KWGA) Patron in Chief, Anis Majeed and Chairman, Malik Zulfiqar emphasised that for Pakistan to work towards economic development we must implement efficient tax system.

While appraising the new chairman FBR, Shabbar Ziadi’s initial notification after taking office he said that business community is disturbed by excess taxation and more worrying problem is being harassed by FBR officers.

Now as the new chairman has taken notice that taxpayers should not be harassed which is a positive step. But Shabbar Zaidi will need to get these notifications implemented on ground as well then only businessmen will feel confident in our Tax system.

Anis Majeed, Malik Zulfiqar further said that Chairman FBR’s notification for not seizing accounts without prior information to the owner and permission to be taken from Chairman FBR at least 24 hours before account seizure will help recover the lost confidence in FBR by the Business community.

They said that Shabbar Ziadi is an expert Tax practitioner, he knows the problems faced by business community and tax payers and the barriers and technicality faced by FBR, business community is hopeful that he will be the right person to analyses the situation and resolve issues faced by business community. We are also hopeful that he will bring Tax reforms for widening tax payer’s base and facilitate current tax payers.
