LAHORE: Provincial Minister for Environment Protection Muhammad Rizwan on Monday said that the Punjab government was taking steps to cope with environmental pollution as it has become a global issue.
He expressed these views while chairing a meeting of all district officers of Environment Protection Agency (EPA) to discuss the strategy for launching an effective campaign against environmental pollution at EPA headquarters here.
Speaking on the occasion, Asad Gillani emphasized that all officers should start activities on the fast track without taking any pressure. He directed the officers to take all possible measures for protecting the environment.
"Targets will be set and progress of each officer will be evaluated against set targets," he maintained.
EPA Director Nasim ur Rehman briefed the meeting that action against fake lube oil was continued. Six units were inspected at Saggian Road and a unit involved in manufacturing substandard plastic bottles had been sealed.
Secretary EPA Asad Rehman Gillani, DG Tanveer Jabbar and other officials concerned attended the meeting.
