Buzdar directs strict monitoring of Ramazan Bazaars

LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar here on Monday directed the authorities concerned to ensure strict checking of Ramazan Bazaars set up across the province to provide relief to the people. Usman Buzdar said that ministers, advisors, and secretaries had been deputed to monitor these bazaars, and he would also visit the bazaars to check arrangements there, adding that subsidy worth billions of rupees was being given on essential items.
He also directed the line departments to also take concrete measures for stabilizing the prices of essential items in the open market as well. The proactive approach was necessary for giving genuine relief to the people and any artificial price-hike would not be tolerated.
He said that control rooms had also been established for monitoring of Ramazan related arrangements at provincial, divisional and district levels.
The Chief Minister also directed that indiscriminate crackdown should be continued against hoarders and profiteers, and effective measures should be taken to stabilize the prices of essential items through a price control mechanism.
He mentioned that 309 Ramazan Bazaars had been set up in the province along-with agri-fair price shops. He said that flour, sugar, ghee, oil, eggs, pulses and vegetables were be available on cheap rates in Ramazan Bazaars and a 10-kg flour bag was available at Rs 290, sugar at Rs 55 per kilogram, Rs 5 dicount on per donen eggs, Rs 10 discount on per kg chicken meat, and up to Rs 20 discount was being given on per kilogram of ghee and cooking oil. The Chief Minister said that 2,000 dastarkhawn would be set up across the province for Sehar and Iftar because provision of relief to masses was top priority of PTI government.
