PML-N nominates Rana Tanveer as new PAC chairman

Pakistan Muslim League - Nawaz (PML-N) nominated on Thursday Rana Tanveer as Shehbaz Sharif’s replacement as Public Accounts Committee (PAC) chairman.

According to local media reports, this decision was taken during a parliamentary party meeting headed by Khawaja Asif and Raja Zafarul Haq. Former prime minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi has also nominated Asif as parliamentary leader.

Last year, PML-N president was elected unopposed as PAC chairman after the government accepted Sharif as the PAC chairman whose name the opposition had nominated. The government was unwilling to hand over him the post due to the pending cases filed against him by the National Accountability Bureau.

PAC is considered to be the most powerful and important committee of the Parliament.
