56,000 police officials faced punishments in Punjab Last year

MULTAN: Inspector General Police (IGP) Punjab Arif Nawaz Khan said that about 56,000 police officials faced punishments in the province last year.
"This is almost an annual feature but police attitude did not change with masses" he added. The IG expressed these remarks while addressing police officials at Police Lines here.
He said that police had to change its attitude in order to improve image among masses. About 1400 police officials sacrificed their lives for masses.
He observed that the command of Punjab police was a gigantic task for him. He directed them to remain polite with the public. "All of visitors at police stations are not criminals.
The police should respect every body in the station", he added. He directed officers to be patient with their subordinates otherwise angry subordinates expresses their anger against masses.
Our religion also teaches of polite dealings with others, said IG Arif.
He also warned that he would not tolerate police officials, who would found patronizing any land-grabber or criminal. Black sheeps in police department would be dealt strictly and these would not find any place in the department.
The IGP also assured police officials that law and order allowance would be recommended for them in the upcoming budget.
On this occasion, RPO Waseem Ahmed Khan, CPO Imran Mehmood and others officials were also present.
