LAHORE: Punjab Governor Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar on Tuesday said the government would not tolerate corruption or corrupt practices in any institution.

Addressing the passing-out ceremony of officers of 46th Common Training Programme at Civil Services Academy here, he said that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government believed in autonomy of institutions, adding that institutions should work freely without any political influence.

It was top priority of the government to further strengthen national institutions to put the country on the road to progress and prosperity, he added.

Chaudhry Sarwar said the previous governments influenced the institutions to achieve vested interests, but the incumbent government of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf would ensure supremacy of the constitution and law.

The governor said the role of public officers was significant in addressing grievances of people and eliminating corruption. He urged the officers to serve with honesty without any fear.

Appreciating the women representation in 46th CTP, Ch Sarwar said that 40 per cent women representation in the CTP was an indication of women empowerment in Pakistan, adding that the government had assigned various duties to women in public sector without any discrimination.

The PTI government, under the leadership of Prime Minister Imran Khan, was committed to giving full representation to women in every walk of life, he concluded.
