LAHORE: Environment Protection department (EPD) Punjab has expedited anti-dengue campaign across Punjab on the special directions of Provincial Minister for Environment Protection Muhammad Rizwan.

In this regard, EPD teams visited total 97,252 numbers of places including 51,767 tyre shops, 21,038 junkyards, 18,380 nurseries and 6,067 UC sites.

According to details, dengue larvae were found in 19 places and 205 notices were issued whereas 9,777 dengue breeding sites were identified and removed.

The provincial minister said that teams at the Ministry were making progress and would continue to take the appropriate actions necessary to contain the dengue virus.

He said that all the departments had to play their due role with responsibility to curb dengue from the province.

He directed the departments concerned to prepare a comprehensive plan and play effective role with responsibility to curb the menace of dengue virus.

"In order to control the dengue virus, we have to keep our surroundings clean and healthy.

One of the easiest ways for people to prevent a dengue outbreak is to remove stagnant water from our houses and surroundings," he added.

The minister said that there would be no compromise on the health of people and in this regard, awareness campaigns were being launched throughout the province regarding prevention of dengue.
