Pakistan Army and the Khyber Paktunkhwa (KP) Police in a joint intelligence based operation in Hayatabad, Peshawar killed five terrorists.

According to a press release issued by the Inter-Services Public Relation (ISPR), the army and KP Police conducted an operation against a terrorist hideout on Monday night. During the operation, the forces killed five terrorists while Assistant sub-inspector of police Qamar Alam was killed during the exchange of fire. The press release further said that an officer and a soldier also got injured during the operation.

The press release said that forces were in process of clearing the compound while a search in adjacent areas was also in progress. "Dead bodies of killed terrorists recovered. Identification of killed terrorists in process," the ISPR statement added.

Peshawar Corps Commander Lieutenant General Shaheen Mazhar Mahmood visited the site of the operation on Tuesday morning and lauded the security personnel present there. The funeral prayers of Alam was held at Peshawar.

KP Chief Minister Mahmood Khan, Corps Commander Mahmood, KP Inspector General of Police Mohammad Naeem and participated in the prayers.
