The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) submitted on Friday its reply to Islamabad High Court (IHC) and has sought cancellation of the pre-arrest bail granted to former president Asif Ali Zardari in the fake accounts case.

During the hearing at the high court, the bureau submitted its reply and asked the IHC to cancel the bail granted to Zardari. In its report submitted to IHC, the bureau said that the former president does not deserve any leniency in the case. The bureau also stated that the probe into the fake accounts case was ongoing as per the directives of the Supreme Court (SC).

NAB further wrote that it was not obliged to inform Zardari  before arresting him, local media reported. The bureau has challenged Zardari's bail and requested the court to cancel his bail.

On Wednesday, the high court extended Zardari's bail till April 29 and directed NAB to submit its reply in the case.  NAB has been investigating Zardari, Talpur, Omni Group Chairman Anwar Majeed, former Pakistan Stock Exchange chairperson Hussain Lawai, Summit Bank Senior Vice-President Taha Raza and other responsible in the fake accounts case.On NAB’s request, the case was transferred from Karachi to an accountability court in Islamabad.
