Three shot dead as vehicles of two muftis come under attack in Karachi

Three people were killed and two others were injured on Friday when the vehicles of two religious scholars of Darul Uloom Korangi came under attack in separate incidents in Karachi.

The two firing incidents were reported within half an hour in the port city. The first incident took place at NIPA flyover soon after which the second incident was reported from Sharae Faisal.

The first firing incident took place near the NIPA flyover. Maulna Shahabullah of the Darul Uloom Korangi and his guard Sanobar Khan were killed. Shahabullah and his security guard, were on their way to offer Friday prayers in Gulshan-e-Iqbal when their vehicle came under attack.

While the other incident was reported from Sharae Faisal in which unidentified gunmen on a bike targeted  religious scholar Mufti Muhammad Taqi Usmani’s car. He was in the car when it came under attack but he remained unhurt, local media reported. The religious scholar's guard was killed while his driver has been injured.

Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah has taken notice of the incident and has sought a report. The CM has also directed that the attackers be arrested.
